Yann Nachtrieb, English-speaking mortgage broker based in Limoges, France

Buying in France? Get your mortgage without the language barrier.

I am an English-speaking French mortgage broker based in Limoges. I compare French banks and defend your file, so you borrow on the right terms, whether you live in France or in the UK. The first 45-minute call is free.

Registered mortgage broker (COBSP) and insurance broker (COA) in France, ORIAS no. 26009903. Based in Limoges, serving the Haute-Vienne, the Dordogne and the wider Limousin, in person or remotely.

What I help British buyers with.

A French mortgage follows different rules from a British one. This is where I come in.

  • Non-resident mortgages

French banks do lend to UK residents buying a main home, a second home or an investment in France, under specific conditions. I know which banks say yes, and on what terms.

  • Your deposit and your file

How much you need to put down, which documents French banks ask for, and how to present your income so your file passes. I prepare it with you.

  • The buying process

From the compromis de vente to the notaire and the final deed, I explain each step in plain English and keep your financing on track.

Why use a broker rather than one French bank.

Walk into a single French bank and you get one offer, in French, on their terms. I put several French banks in competition, I speak your language, and I negotiate the rate, the insurance and the fees on your behalf. You save time, and usually money.

Mortgage insurance, where the real savings often are

In France you can choose your mortgage insurance (assurance emprunteur) separately from the loan, and change it at any time. For many borrowers this is where the biggest savings sit, often several thousand euros over the life of the loan. I compare it for you.

Currency and timing

Buying in euros from a sterling income adds an exchange-rate question to your budget. I flag it early so your plan holds, and I work to a timeline that fits a cross-border purchase.

Frequently asked questions

Can I get a French mortgage as a UK resident?

Yes. Several French banks lend to non-residents for a main home, a second home or an investment, usually with a larger deposit than for residents. The terms depend on your income, your project and the bank. That is exactly what we look at together.

How much deposit do I need?

It varies by bank and by profile. Non-residents are generally asked for a larger deposit than residents. I tell you where you stand before you commit to anything.

Do you work in English?

Yes. The whole process, from the first call to signing, can be handled in English, by phone or video, wherever you are.

What does a broker cost me?

The first call is free. If a loan is arranged, I may be paid by brokerage fees and by a commission from the bank; you are told the amount in writing before you sign anything. By law, nothing is due until the funds are released.

Do I need to live in the Limousin or Dordogne?

No. I am based in Limoges and work remotely across France and with buyers abroad. Documents are handled electronically.
